Buying Guide

What to Look For in a Single Egg Chair

Single egg chairs are designed for one person, and they are the most popular style we sell. They typically measure around 95cm wide and 195cm tall (including the frame), so they fit comfortably into most gardens, patios, and even larger balconies.

The first thing to consider is the frame type. Our hanging single egg chairs are suspended from an A-frame stand, allowing a gentle swinging motion. If you prefer something more grounded, take a look at our standing egg chairs instead.

Comfort comes down to the cushion. Look for a deep seat cushion of at least 8cm thickness, with a matching headrest pillow. Our cushions have removable, washable covers, which is useful for keeping things fresh over the summer months. The cushion covers are showerproof but not fully waterproof, so bring them indoors during heavy downpours or overnight.

On materials: every single egg chair we stock uses PE rattan woven over powder-coated steel. PE rattan is a synthetic material that resists UV fading, moisture, and temperature changes far better than natural wicker. The steel frame underneath is treated to prevent rust, though a protective cover during winter will extend its life by years.

Most single egg chairs have a weight capacity of around 120kg. Assembly is straightforward and takes roughly 20-30 minutes. For help deciding between a single and a larger model, our single vs double egg chair blog post covers the key differences.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much space do I need for a single egg chair?

You will need a floor area of at least 110cm x 110cm for a single hanging egg chair, including its frame. Allow an extra 30cm on each side for the swinging motion. If space is tight, a standing model needs less clearance as it does not swing.

Are single egg chair cushions waterproof?

The cushion covers are showerproof, meaning they can handle light rain without soaking through. In heavy or prolonged rain, we recommend bringing the cushions inside or storing them in a weatherproof box. The rattan shell and steel frame can stay out in all weather.

Can I use a single egg chair indoors?

Yes. Many customers use them in conservatories, bedrooms, or living rooms. The frame does need a solid, level floor. If you have wooden or tiled flooring, place a rug or felt pads underneath to prevent scratching.

What colours are available for single egg chairs?

Our single egg chairs come in grey and natural rattan finishes. Cushion colours vary by model but typically include grey, cream, and navy. Check each product page for the specific colour options available.

Do single egg chairs come with a stand included?

Yes. Every single egg chair we sell comes with its own freestanding support frame. You do not need to drill into a ceiling or beam. The stand and chair arrive in the same delivery and are assembled together.
