Double Egg Chairs

Same cocoon shape as a single, but wide enough for two people to sit side by side without competing for elbow room. Most of our customers who buy a double egg chair tell us it ends up being the most-used seat in the garden.

We stock a large range of double egg chair models. The wider shell needs a sturdier frame, so every one uses reinforced steel with a stable, weighted base. Hand-woven PE rattan covers the shell and handles UV, rain and frost without fading or cracking. Each chair comes with a full cushion set (seat, back and headrest), all removable for washing or storing over winter.

Couples like them. Parents with small children like them. People who just want more room to stretch out like them. If you have the patio space for one, you will use it. Delivery from our UK warehouse is typically days, not weeks.

Buying Guide

How to Choose the Right Double Egg Chair

A double egg chair gives you enough room for two people to sit side by side, or for one person to really spread out. They are wider than singles (typically around 130cm across) and deeper, so the seat feels more like a loveseat than a chair.

Space is the main consideration. A double egg chair with its frame needs a footprint of roughly 150cm x 130cm, and you should add another 30-40cm of clearance on each side if it is a hanging model that swings. Measure your patio or garden area before ordering.

Weight capacity is higher on doubles, usually around 200kg, which comfortably supports two average-sized adults. The frames are heavier too, so once assembled, they are not easy to move around. Pick your spot carefully.

Like all our egg chairs, doubles are made from hand-woven PE rattan on powder-coated steel. The rattan is weatherproof and UV-stable. Cushions are thick (typically 10cm or more on doubles) and come with removable covers for washing. A head pillow is usually included as well.

If you are not sure a double is necessary, it is worth comparing the two sizes. Our single vs double egg chair guide breaks down the practical differences. And if you want a two-person seat without the swinging motion, our standing egg chairs include some two-seat options on a fixed base.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can two adults sit comfortably in a double egg chair?

Yes. Double egg chairs are designed for two adults sitting side by side. The seat width is typically around 130cm, which gives each person enough room without feeling cramped. The weight limit is approximately 200kg across both seats.

Is a double egg chair much harder to assemble than a single?

It takes a bit longer, around 30-45 minutes, and the parts are heavier. We recommend two people for assembly, mainly because lifting the chair onto the hanging hook is easier with an extra pair of hands. The process itself is the same as a single model.

How heavy is a double egg chair?

A double egg chair with its frame typically weighs between 30kg and 40kg once assembled. This makes them fairly stable in wind but difficult to move on your own. Consider where you want to place it before you build it.

Will a double egg chair fit through a standard door?

The chair arrives flat-packed, so the individual boxes will fit through a standard UK doorway (around 76cm wide). Once assembled, the chair and frame are too large to fit through most doors, so assemble it in its final location.

Are replacement cushions available for double egg chairs?

We stock replacement cushion sets for our most popular models. Contact our customer service team with your model name and they can confirm availability and pricing. In the meantime, the removable covers are machine washable, which helps keep them looking fresh.
